The title story features a man who drinks because of the pain. He drinks because of the squeaky things. He drinks because the moon makes terrible sounds. On a night by the sea, a young girl will show him how to escape the moon and all the other horrors eating him from the inside. The shower-inducing concluding tale,"The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island," is a gory and bizarre horror comedy featuring a group of young pornographers called upon to find and bring to justice the man or creature who has been impregnating all the prostitutes of a tropical island. This collection also features "The Man With the Face Like a Bruise" and "The Photographer."

I got a story collection with the same title, from Amazon. It had 4 different shorts from Prunty. I made a separate review for "The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island" which was part of collection."The Night the Moon Made a Sound" a man is sick, meets with a six year old girl who takes him to a place where the moon doesn't make a sound. Great Ghost Story! 5 stars
"Man with the bruise Face" Finds his wife cheating, already on the edge after his child died. Takes a Louisville Slugger to a blood splashing ending 5 stars.
The other story called "The photographer" I didn't really care for. Worth the money. Buy a Copy

The Night the Moon Made a Sound edition by Andersen Prunty Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I don't consider myself a prude but found some of the short stories offensive. The graphic sex and violence was a turn-off for me. I was expecting something more like Stephen King's great short stories but instead this author uses sex and gruesome violence in an extreme way. Not a bad writer - just not for everyone.
i can't get enough of Anderson Prunty. I'd read most of these stories before, but still enjoyed it. Revistable, like a grave.
It is a collection of stories that have been published before. The stories are refreshing and the style reminds in a way of " The books of blood" by Clive Barker.
Easy to read and leaving you with a feeling of confusion...." Did i really read this......?" Taking the abnormal and making it for some reason seem plausible...almost " normal" in a bizarre sort of way. Good reading for the winter to come.
New to the genre, I bought this on a whim. What a ride. Four shorts that remind me of the combined best of early Clive Barker, Chuck Palahniuk, Brett Easton Ellis with a dash McCarthy. The Sex Beast of Scurvy Island is a special treat; I have never read anything as absurd or delightfully twisted in a long, long time.
If your're lookng for something off the beaten path, I *highly* recommend this wonderful collection of short stories.
Another great collection of stories from Prunty! I think he is at his best with short stories. Each one of these have something odd, strange or horrific about them. If you are new to Prunty's style of writing then be prepared to be taken to some dark, slightly askew spots. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something different
Dark, explicitly graphic, sexually honest, frightening, and some of the best short stories that I have ever encountered in my quest for the unique and intriguing in books. They are all great, they are all different, they are all must reads. I highly recommend this book to all readers who are looking for something different and thoroughly enjoyable.

This collection is unlike anything I have ever read before and that's exactly why it is so enthralling. Just when I thought these stories couldn't get any weirder, I read the last one in this book. I don't burst out laughing often but I definitely did reading some of this. That's the amazing thing about Prunty's work...I swear reading this collection I had every expression on my face from a scowl, to a frown, to a raised eyebrow, to putting my hand over my mouth, to laughing maniacally. Anyways, just read this book and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about!
